Mulled Wine and Canapes

After the ceremony and champagne it was back to the Old Hall for hot mulled wine and canapes in the George Potter Bar. About 50 of us were entertained to traditional Irish music and we even had a sing-song. The mulled wine was kept hot in a copper cauldron and we had a trays of delicious canapes such as Smoked Salmon and Caviar, Tiger Prawn Chilli and Lime, Goats Cheese Pine Nuts and Apple, and Smoked Duck and Onion Marmalade - to name just a few.

Mark and Gwyneth are friends we have met through dog walking down Mousley Bottom, in New Mills. Mark is an accomplished musician on traditional Irish Uilleann pipes. Here we see Mark on pipes and Paul Wren on fiddle. They played for nearly two hours with a mixture of traditional jigs and reels, and some more contemporary songs (Whiskey in the jar, Black velvet band...) so we could all sing along. Wonderful music - thanks so much.

At last - Peter can loosen the tie a little. The husband and wife (of about 20 minutes) finally get a moment together - but not for long - there are so many friends and family to get round, the two hours seemed to shoot past. The undone button on the waistcoat is traditional - it's nothing to do with the three-course lunch.
